Dear Colleagues and Partners,

We are delighted to announce the release of new firmware for AUTHOR IGLA/ALARM systems. This update introduces major enhancements that are designed to make our systems more flexible and functional, and to make car protection even stronger.

The firmware v3.12 supports the following products: *
  • AUTHOR IGLA (IGLA 200, IGLA 220, IGLA 231, etc.)
  • AUTHOR IGLA WL (IGLA LITE)
  • AUTHOR IGLA WB (IGLA M)
  • AUTHOR ALARM (IGLA ALARM)
  • AUTHOR ALARM 1L (IGLA ECO)
  • AUTHOR ALARM WB 1L (IGLA BASE)
  • AUTHOR GUARD.
* Some features are only available for certain products.

Enhancements

  • The new Anti CAN-jack algorithm was introduced to protect Toyota and Lexus cars from digital hacking of standard security systems via the CAN bus.
  • Settings were added for the Digital Engine Shut-off and Digital Start Inhibit features.
  • Functionality of analog blocking was expanded.
  • The setting "Conditions for entering the Armed mode" was added.
  • The setting "Driver side selection" was added.
  • The feature "Using the central lock status to arm or disarm the car" was added.
  • The option of arming the car with the accelerometer off was added.
  • The setting "Sound alert upon keyfob detection for the Two-factor Perimeter Disarming" was added.
  • The feature "Blocking of OBD-II diagnostics" can now operate via CAN1 and CAN2 buses at the same time.
  • Notifications about "Blocking of OBD-II diagnostics" were added.
We hope that the new firmware will be another step towards excellence in ensuring the safety and comfort of car operation.

You can download the new firmware on the service portal.

Important! To set up the features, only use AUTHOR Flasher 4.9 or higher.

You can download the latest AUTHOR Flasher version on the service portal.

Let us have a look at the new features.

Anti CAN-jack is a new patented algorithm implemented in AUTHOR's digital security and anti-theft systems. Unlike other blocking types, the algorithm does not affect the operation of the engine or gearbox, but it automatically detects and blocks hacker commands that the intruder sends to the CAN bus by using specialized equipment. Thus, it prevents hacking of Toyota and Lexus standard security systems (and others in the future).

The algorithm does not require any configuration or dedicated control. In the Armed mode, it is automatically enabled, and it is disabled right after the system is disarmed or switched to the Service or Transport modes. Working in combination with other digital and analog blocking types, Anti CAN-jack has become an essential part of car cybersecurity.

Read more about the feature in this release.

Settings: Digital Engine Shut-off and Digital Start Inhibit
Sometimes the installer may need to disable the digital CAN blocking. For example, if it causes errors, or if you plan to use analog blocking instead of digital. Now you can use relevant settings in AUTHOR Flasher (starting with Version 4.9).

If Digital Start Inhibit or Digital Engine Shut-off is disabled, at any attempt to start the engine or begin driving, the system will enable only the analog blocking (NC/NO, depending on the setting).

Expanded functionality of analog blocking
New signals of analog blocking control were added. Now you can use AUTHOR Flasher (starting with Version 4.9) to enable the following settings:
  • Output to additional blocking in the Engine Shut-off mode (NC)
  • Output to additional blocking in the Engine Shut-off and Start Inhibit modes (NO)
  • Output to additional blocking in the Engine Shut-off and Start Inhibit modes (NC)
  • Output to additional blocking in the Engine Start Inhibit mode (NC)
  • Output to additional blocking of the Start/Stop button.

Setting: Conditions for immobilizer transition to the Armed mode
Previously, in AUTHOR anti-theft and security systems, the immobilizer was armed automatically in 10 seconds after turning off the ignition. This was done for simplicity and security. However, this mode may not always be convenient for the car owner. For example, when crossing the border or waiting for a passenger.

Hence, the new firmware has the option to set the time period (from 0 sec. to 24 h.), after which the immobilizer enters the Armed mode, and to select one of the three conditions below for arming the immobilizer:
  • After turning off the ignition and opening the driver door
  • After turning off the ignition and arming the car perimeter
  • After turning off the ignition and time-out.
To configure the feature, use AUTHOR Flasher (v4.9 or higher).

Setting: Driver side selection
Previously, the firmware automatically identified right- or left-hand drive cars. Now you can use AUTHOR Flasher (v4.9 or higher) to perform the setting manually.

First of all, this is important for the correct operation of the Anti-carjacking feature and arming the immobilizer as per the condition "After turning off the ignition and opening the driver’s door". This is also necessary for processing door statuses in the alarm logic and displaying them correctly in AUTHOR Connect.

Feature: Using the central lock status to arm or disarm the car
Previously, to arm or disarm the car perimeter (for example, in AUTHOR ALARM), our system used the CAN bus to determine the status of the car's standard alarm system and obtain information about pushing of the standard keyfob buttons or triggering of the Keyless Access system.

However, due to their specific configuration, some cars may lack such information in the CAN bus, or it may be difficult to obtain it.

To solve this problem, the new firmware offers the option to arm or disarm the car perimeter by closing or opening the central lock.

You can carry out configuration via AUTHOR Flasher (v4.9 or higher).

Important! It is recommended to use this feature only with a keyfob at hand and the enabled feature "Search for a keyfob to disarm the system via the standard key". The presence or absence of the keyfob within the system's recognition range will prevent any accidental activation or unauthorized deactivation of car perimeter protection.

Arming the car with the accelerometer off
The new feature is designed for systems equipped with an accelerometer, such as AUTHOR ALARM, AUTHOR ALARM 1L, and AUTHOR GUARD. It allows you to disable the accelerometer once when arming the system in order to avoid false triggering of shock, tilt or motion sensors (for example, if the car owner uses automated parking).

The feature is enabled with a certain sequence of pushes on the standard keyfob buttons, after which two external indication signals will follow instead of one, and a relevant message will be sent to AUTHOR Connect. *

The feature does not require any preliminary configuration and it is enabled only for one cycle of arming the system.

* Subject to installing the AUTHOR TELE COMPASS 2/2 4G telematic module.

Setting: Sound alert upon keyfob detection for the Two-factor Perimeter Disarming feature
It is designed for AUTHOR ALARM and AUTHOR ALARM 1L. Now, AUTHOR Flasher (v4.9 or higher) has a setting that allows you to turn on or off the siren signal confirming the keyfob detection after disarming the car and opening a door.

Feature: Blocking of OBD-II diagnostics via CAN1 and CAN2 buses
In systems equipped with two CAN buses, the feature used to work only via the CAN1 bus. The new firmware enables this feature to work both via CAN1 and CAN2 in such products as AUTHOR ALARM, AUTHOR ALARM 1L, and AUTHOR GUARD.

If the feature is on, the device will prevent access to car diagnostics. Access will be restored only after successful authorization, as well as in Service and Transport modes.

Notifications about "Blocking of OBD-II diagnostics"
To keep the car owner and transport monitoring companies properly informed, we have introduced notifications about the operation of diagnostic exchange blocking.

In case of enabling or disabling of diagnostic exchange blocking, as well as if the feature is triggered, the system sends a relevant notification to AUTHOR Connect * and to the web portal.

You can configure the feature via AUTHOR Connect or AUTHOR Flasher (v4.9 or higher).

* Subject to installing the AUTHOR TELE COMPASS 2/2 4G telematic module.
