Comparison of telematics and autonomous beacon
Telematic devices operate via the car's on-board network.
A standalone beacon is an auxiliary device that runs on batteries.

Theft

During the theft, the car is placed in an armored room that blocks all radio signals, including GPS and GSM signals used for tracking. To detect the "beacons", the thief disconnects the car's standard battery from the wiring and scans the body with a radio field detector.
Autonomous beacon detection
An autonomous GPS beacon powered by its own batteries becomes "visible" as the only source of an electromagnetic field.
AUTHOR devices are invisible to detectors
When the standard battery is disconnected, the device is deactivated along with the car.

The thieves, confident in the absence of tracking devices, connect the standard car battery and leave the armored premises. The AUTHOR device is connected according to a pre-set scenario and sends the coordinates of the car to the owner.
